"In order to really enjoy a dog, one doesn't merely try to train him to be semi-human. The point of it is to open oneself to the possibility of becoming partly a dog." - Edward Hoagland

UPDATE!!!
Last night Rylee (Bobbie) graduated from PetSmart Puppy Training and I wanted to send you a couple of pictures. She weighed in at 27 pounds and was the star of the class, often getting selected to demonstrate tricks and commands. She even rode a skateboard a few feet! The trainer said if we took the time we could probably teach her to read. She is very good at Sit, Down, Stay, Drop It and Leave It. She is pretty good on Dead Dog and Roll Over. The one we have the most trouble with is Come - depends on her mood and if she feels like showing off for a crowd. Her coat is so black and shiny that she looks almost "oily". She's had all of her shots and gets her teeth brushed every weekend with a dental spray most other nights. We still have some more housebreaking to do but we're down to just one or two mistakes a week.

UPDATE!!!
I wanted to give you an update on Jonas, Tora, Gunther and finally Milo which stuck. He is a happy laid back boy, a real keeper. He and my sheppard Tucker get on very well. He was a little touch and go the first few days, but they are now in love. He also likes the cat Spot, who tolerates him very patiently. No blood drawn.
Thanks so much for Milo. Alex and Stacey Thalmann in Washington, NC

A Puppy's Prayer
The king-size bed is soft and deep.. I sleep right in the center groove My human being can hardly move! I've trapped her legs, she's tucked in tight And here is where I pass the night No one disturbs me or dares intrude Till morning comes and "I want food!" I sneak up slowly to begin My nibbles on my human's chin. She wakes up quickly, I have sharp teeth- I'm a puppy, don't you see? For the morning's here And it's time to play I always seem to get my way. So thank you Lord for giving me This human person that I see. The one who hugs and holds me tight And shares her bed with me at night! Author Unknown
