UPDATE!!

NO PICTURE...no story

Our newsletter is so much more interesting when we receive updates about our pets that have been adopted.  This month, only one came (and we appreciate it very much!).  Please send us a note about how your pet is doing, what does he look like now?  Has he had any interesting experiences?  Does he just like laying around, enjoying life?  Let us know!  Your pet's foster family always wonders about their former charges and it warms their hearts knowing the little one they helped save is now a happy member of a permanent family.

We'll do just about anything to get more people to the adopt-a-pet venues!

Not really. SCARL member, Ed, had a bit of a dizzy spell and medical was called to check him out.  We hear he's doing fine and that makes us very happy!!

UPDATE!!

Hi,

Thought you would like to hear how Sadie is doing.

Sadie had her second set of shots and her rabies vaccination on Tues the 20th, it was too early to remove the stitches in her stomach. However, they removed the stitches on the 23rd.

Sadie is learning to ride in our vehicles and seems to be doing quite well.  Also we are beginning crate training tonight. Housebreaking is going alright, but she is still occasionally having accidents in the house.

Today, we took her to Petsmart in Concord.  She was too afraid to walk around but rode quite well in the cart.  People were very interested in her and she allowed them to pet and to talk to her.

Over the past week Sadie has made several new friends.  Firstly our daughter who is married and our neighbors three daughters.  The neighbors daughters have a toy poodle named Lola and her and Sadie play in the yard together.

Sadie is adjusting to her new home well and is such a joy to have.  We have come to love her very much and wouldn't think of not having her. We would like to thank you for allowing us the opportunity to adopt her.  We will send pictures as she gets older and feel free to keep in touch.

Thanks Again,

Arlene Shelton

Fall Festival & Costume Parade

A fantastic time was had by young & old alike @ the Fall Festival & Costume Parade held on Oct. 29 in Downtown Albemarle where all the costumed children received treats from the Downtown merchants.

Our own foster puppy, "Stan" (who will be available for adoption in a few weeks) got in on the festivities handing out dog treats /w/ the advice to all the kids not to share their candy with their dogs @ home. "Stan" is seen in his prisoner costume being held by Grey Carle of the Falling Rivers Gallery & some of the costumed kids.

Did you know?

Dogs are omnivorous. They need more than just meat to flourish.

COMING UP THIS MONTH!!!!!!!

The Stanly Arts Guild Falling Rivers Gallery is gearing up for their 2nd annual "Let's Undecorate the Tree" project. Beginning in mid-November plan to visit the Gallery located in beautiful downtown Albemarle & for a $5 donation or a bag of puppy or kitten food you can choose a lovely artist decorated ornament to take home. Your generosity & donations help to provide food for the many pets residing in foster homes awaiting adoption.

How Do I Love Thee...

TO MY DOG(S):

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways...

I love thee agreeably - enough to let your stinky dog hide on the bed after a run through damp leaves, mud and slug infested gardens.

I love thee steadfastly - enough to devote a year to raising you from a wobbly speck into a strong healthy adult (who promptly attempts to seize control).

I love thee passionately - despite your repeated efforts to probe my ears, eyes and mouth with the same tongue you use for various other atrocities.

I love thee well - despite the amazing odors you produce.

I love thee deeply - though you use me as a napkin at every opportunity.

I love thee madly - despite the various bodily functions you have performed at inappropriate moments - in inappropriate places.

I love thee constantly - despite the dog "bladder curfew" I have lived by for many years.

I love thee truly - despite the "doggie land mines" hidden in the grass.

I love thee absolutely - because you never (well, hardly ever) hog the remote control.

I love thee gratefully - because you stay by my side (or on my side).

I love thee devotedly - more than clean carpeting, clothing, furniture, floors or walls.

I love thee bravely - enough to battle the indomitable flea on your behalf.

I love thee monetarily - enough to put the vet's children through college.

I love thee openly - I will bear any embarrassment for your furry sake.

I love thee totally -more than free time, excess cash or a predictable life.
