UPDATE!!!

We were so excited to see an update on Khaki and Lexi, our SCARL pup's
brother and sister! Lily (formerly Teri) is a spitting image of Kakhi and
weighs in at 58 pounds. Lily is the sweetest, gentlest puppy we know. She
loves to run around squeaking her toys, look at passers-by out the front
door, and go to doggie day camp to visit with all of her friends. She is
such a joy to have in our lives! We are so thankful to Debra and the folks
at SCARL for giving her such a great start in life!

UPDATE!!!

SCARL alumni, Scarlet, stopped by the Locust Adopt-A-Pet to say "Hello".  Always nice to see you!

On Thursday June 11, 2009 Jane Murray & Debra Sprayberry visited Stanly Manor Nursing Home @ the request of Lessie White who is their Activities Director. They took 2 puppies with them, Raven & Rook. The residents enjoyed very much petting them & having them visit their rooms & look forward to SCARL returning. Ms. White has asked that the Stanly County Animal Rescue League make this a monthly event for the residents to look forward to. There are so many residents who had to leave their own pets behind in the care of spouses or family members that this short visit with some of our animals gives them a chance to interact again with some four-legged friends.

UPDATE!!!

Hi,

I adopted a bob tailed Kitten about a year ago name Robert.  He has grown so big and a great member of our family.  I can't remember the name of the person that had him...if possible could you find this out...as I would love to send her some pictures of him.  I do remember that she started each pet she had with a letter in the alphabet and she was on R when she name our kitten Robert. We changed is name to Peanut. We love him so much.

Peanut is great!  We love him so much.  He is so spoiled.  I get up around 5:30 in the morning before the rest of my family gets up.  Peanut and I sit in the rocking chair while I drink my coffee and watch the news......he lays like a baby on his back and sleeps.  Thanks so much for letting me get him.

If you want someone who will eat whatever you put in front of him and

never say its not quite as good as his mother's

.....then adopt a dog.

If you want someone always willing to go out, at any hour, for as long

and wherever you want ...

.....then adopt a dog.

If you want someone who will never touch the remote, doesn't care

about football, and can sit next to you as you watch romantic movies

.....then adopt a dog.

If you want someone who is content to get on your bed just to warm

your feet and whom you can push off if he snores

.....then adopt a dog !

If you want someone who never criticizes what you do, doesn't care if

you are pretty or ugly, fat or thin, young or old, who acts as if

every word you say is especially worthy of listening to, and loves you

unconditionally, perpetually ..

.....then adopt a dog.

BUT, on the other hand, if you want someone who will never come when

you call, ignores you totally when you come home, leaves hair all over

the place, walks all over you, runs around all night and only comes

home to eat and sleep, and acts as if your entire existence is solely

to ensure his happiness .,

....

....

.....then adopt a cat!

Now be honest, you thought I was gonna say... marry a man, didn't you?

UPDATE!!!

hi yah!! just an update with my "baby" formerly Sarah she knows her name as Patches. She now has a solid black nose instead of little lines all around it and last time she was weighed she was 30 lbs and 8 oz!!! she is a big lanky girl now!! she loves her Frisbee and Rubber Ball. She can fetch! She is still crate trained and well, barks when she needs to potty in her own back yard. She likes her evening walks as well and does well on the leash. Patches is well loved if not spoiled, lol!  We do live in Woodleaf, NC and well the kids in the neighborhood likes Patches too.

Did you know?

The average dog's mouth exerts 150 to 200 pounds of pressure per square inch. Some dogs can apply up to 450 pounds.

UPDATE!!!

Hi!,
I wanted to send you a picture of our girl. We adopted her in August of 2005. Her foster name was Chloe, but we changed it to "Tipper". She is well and happy and very much loved.

Belle

Belle

by Debra Sprayberry

I've spent many a sleepless night

turning my back on your pets' harsh treatment.

What a sad and horrible plight.

A good neighbor is what I wanted to be.

How could I look away again and pretend not to see?

They need clean water, food and care.

Knowing they didn't get it was more than I could bear.

Forgive me, Belle for you didn't understand your fate.

A life of harsh cruelty & neglect from your family

was all that you would get.

When you appeared in my yard with a piece of wood

attached around your neck,

my heart couldn't take any more neglect.

I couldn't look away again and pretend not to see

that a life spent with kindness was just not going to be.

For all the "Belle's" in our County, please report neglect & cruelty to Animal Control. There are worse things than being euthanized.

The Albemarle High School Beta Club donated lots of food this month...thank you!!!
